Do you actually know where your clients are coming from? Not a gut feeling – real, actual data?
If your answer is “…kind of,” Dubsado’s Project Sources feature is about to become your new favorite thing. It takes less than three minutes to set up, and once it’s running, every new lead gets tagged with exactly where they found you.
Project Sources is a feature inside Dubsado that lets you log where each lead or client came from – Instagram, a referral, your website, a podcast interview, Google Ads, whatever’s actually part of your marketing mix. You build the list, Dubsado tracks it.
Without it, you’re guessing. And guessing is expensive – especially when you’re deciding where to spend your time or your marketing dollars.
With Project Sources active, you can pull a report and see not just which sources are sending you the most leads, but which ones are actually converting to paying clients. Those are two very different lists, and the second one is the one that matters.
1. From your Home screen in Dubsado 3.0, scroll down to Project Reports and click in.
2. Scroll down to Sources to see your current list. To add a new one, scroll back to the top, type the source name (e.g. Google Ads), assign it a color, and click Create.
3. Build out your full list so it reflects your actual marketing channels.
4. Go to Forms > Lead Captures and open each of your forms. Look for the Project Tracking element – this is what captures the source when someone fills out your form. Make sure all your sources are showing and save the form. Do this for every lead capture form you use.
5. Want to take it a step further? Add a short answer field and map it to “Referred By” – then ask the client directly. You’ll get the dropdown data AND the human detail in their own words.
Already have projects in Dubsado? You don’t have to open each one. Go to your Projects tab, and right from the List view you can update the source on any project. Quick, no rabbit holes.

– TextExpander Snippets – TextExpander works inside Dubsado too. If you’re in there updating projects anyway, this is a great pairing.
– ClickUp Email to List – Another tip about making sure incoming leads get captured somewhere useful instead of disappearing into your inbox.
