Gmail Snooze: The Inbox Zero Trick That Clears Your Head Without Losing the Email

You know the email. The one you don’t need right now. The one that isn’t worth turning into a full ClickUp task. But you also can’t just delete it, because you absolutely will need it later. So it sits there. In your inbox. Taking up space in your brain. Gmail Snooze fixes that.

WHAT IS GMAIL SNOOZE?

Snooze lets you make an email temporarily disappear from your inbox and reappear at a specific date and time you choose. It moves to your Snoozed folder in the meantime, so you can still find it if you need it – but it’s out of sight until you’re actually ready for it. Out of sight, out of mind. And in this case, that’s a good thing.

HOW TO USE IT

Hover over any email in your inbox and you’ll see a small clock icon appear. Click it. You can choose from quick options (later today, tomorrow, next week) or set a specific date and time. That’s it. The email is gone until you need it. If you ever want to check what’s waiting, just click “Snoozed” in your Gmail sidebar.

HOW I ACTUALLY USE IT

– CEO day emails: If something lands in my inbox that I want to handle during my Monday CEO time, I snooze it for Monday morning. It shows up right when I’m ready for it.

– Follow-up reminders: I BCC myself on emails I send to clients. Then I snooze that copy for a week or two. When it pops back into my inbox, it’s my trigger to check: have they replied? If not, I follow up. No spreadsheet, no sticky note, no “wait, did I ever hear back from them?”
